About this blog.

As this blog evolves I have decided to add current images on a variety of subjects. Some of these images are shot digitally and for some I continue to use traditional 35mm film. Back in the late '70s and early '80s, I photographed a lot of bands. I did album covers and publicity shots for many mainstream musicians but I loved the alternative music scene. My current subject matter includes urban environments and anything else I find visually interesting.

Trees, Dane Conover

Dane Conover (aka Trees) The 'New Wave' album Sleep Convention 1982, (Produced by Kim Fowley).
This was before digital image processing and no darkroom manipulation was used to create this image. This was shot as a double exposure 4x5 format with fluorescent and strobe lighting to capture the analog video synth image. Dane had to hold the pose for at least 30 seconds.

    Actually, more self-produced than anything else. Fowley was part of the MCA deal, but really it was Dane and Earle Mankey who handled the production chores on this one. A severely underappreciated and oft-overlooked member recording of the genre. A must-have for those who fancy themselves a lover of new wave and synthpop.
